Painted with acrylics, the canvas for this piece is hand-dyed, delicately ruffle-edged paper.  This painting is several layers (the bird was painted then cut out, placed on top of the blue oval layer, and finally  placed on top of the plaid layer!) which adds beautiful depth and texture.
